    • Began working with a pro bono fund raiser/grant writer
    • Working closely with the board and Dechert Law Firm, we submitted our application for 501(c) (3) Tax Exempt status on April 28, 2017 and got approval of tax exempt status on July 29, 2017.

    • Filed Tax with the IRS for the year 2016, engaging a tax professional, Yohannes Ayechew, CPA, FCCA.
    • We have consulted with the board and engaged Dechert Law Firm and got HACI’s  Article of Incorporation amended and HACI is now a non-membership organization
    • Amended bylaws based on the amendment of the Article of Incorporation
    •  Developing the website and involved a pro bono web designer, Renata Sinn
    • Involved an expert and designed a new flyer
    • Continued discussions with a Community Organizer at Montgomery College
    • Changed telephone provider from Verizon to T-Mobile and saved $250 on average
    • We raised about $4000 from supporters of HACI
    •  We obtained about $5000 from Bread for the City which enabled us to keep our office open to this date.
