This HACI program assists our clients interface with partner programs that require interpreting or translating services in the major languages of Ethiopia and Eritrea. HACI’S interpreters are volunteers who provide services free of chargein person, with high-level proficiency in both the African and the American languages and cultures.

 

The OTIP is a core way that HACI staff and volunteers are able to intermediate between Ethiopian-Eritrean immigrants and the non-Ethiopian-Eritrean persons and agencies that will provide them with services. The program is a "win-win-win," serving the immigrant clients, the social service providers, and the volunteer interpreters, who gain valuable experience, credentials and contacts, as well as the satisfaction of helping their Diaspora community and their fellow Americans.
